Arlberg ski club
Enjoy alpine skiing in Tyrol
The Arlberg region is the cradle of winter sports in Austria: on January 3rd in 1901 four skiing pioneers founded the legendary Ski Club Arlberg Austria at the Arlberg Hospiz Hotel in St. Christoph.
In the winter of 1900/01 four skiing aficionados set out on a skiing adventure that would write the history in the Arlberg region. Never before had a skier dared to best the slopes of the Arlberg at more than 1,800 metres above sea level.
During their skiing expedition the four pioneers paid the hospitable inn keeper of the hospice Mr. Trojer a visit. In jolly company they laid the foundations for the Ski Club Arlberg Austria in 1901, boasting more than 6,500 members today, among them 9 world champions and five Olympic champions.
